Flyover Jalan Song, Kuching



Semalam, Flyover Jalan Song telah dibuka untuk lalulintas dan dirasmikan oleh Menteri Pembangunan Infrastruktur dan Perhubungan Sarawak, Dato Sri Michael Manyin. Ia adalah Flyover ke 5 yang dibina di Bandaraya Kuching.

Pembinaan tersebut sememangnya dapat memudahkan pengguna jalan raya di sekitarnya yang selama ini mengalami kesesakan jalan raya yang terok.

Selain itu, ia juga meliputi pembesaran Jalan Tun Jugah. Projek mula dijalankan pada 17 Mac 2011. Tahniah kepada JKR Sarawak selaku agensi pelaksana.

KUCHING: The roads underneath the Jalan Song/Jalan Tun Jugah/Upland interchange flyover will be temporary closed for repairs and tar-sealing work.The physical progress of the road alleviation project, despite seeing its flyover officially opened to the public yesterday, is currently 98.5 per cent completed and full completion is expected to be by end of April.

Works on the wearing coarse route at Jalan Tun Jugah to the airport will be completed on March 29 while the one at the opposite lane is expected to be completed on April 3.
Works on the route from Jalan Simpang Tiga to the Jalan Song intersection however is scheduled to commence today and expected to be completed by April 8.

Infrastructure Development and Communication Minister Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong was clearly content with the opening of the Jalan Song/Jalan Tun Jugah/Upland interchange flyover after about two years of construction.
He told reporters after officiating at the event that “Both sides of the roads underneath the flyover will be tar-sealed added with building of road kerb and landscaping. The affected roads will be open on April 3.

“With the opening of this flyover, we believe that the traffic congestion at the Jalan Tun Jugah and Jalan Song road stretch will be reduced significantly.”
Other outstanding works include the building of road kerb, footpath, installation of crush cushion, road marking and road signs, which are scheduled to be completed by April 21. Final touches such as turfing and other miscellaneous works will be completed on April 30.

“On top of all these, we will also apply for extra budget to install high mast lighting,” added Manyin.
He assured that the project was open-tendered and the Public Works Department (PWD) was very transparent in the dealing. The total project cost was about RM44 million, despite the original contract sum being stated at about RM49.96 million.

In regards to the on-going Batu Kawa bridge project, PWD southern region manager Vincent Tang said the old bridge was currently undergoing repair and reinforcement works, when explaining the reason for the bridge’s closure following the opening of the new lanes at the parallel bridge.
The repair works, which would take another month to complete, include painting, crack mapping and strengthening of the bridge structure.

“Because of the strengthening work, we could not open the bridge for traffic as we cannot allow vibration. We are trying to get the contractor to finish the whole project so that it could be opened by middle June this year,” he continued.

The Batu Kawa new parallel bridge project includes the widening of the linking road.
Also present at the official opening of the flyover were Assistant Minister for Communication Datuk Lee Kim Shin, state PWD director Zuraimi Sabki and SUPP endorsed candidates for Bandar Kuching and Stampin Tan Kai and Wilfred Yap respectively
