Youth Lab

Last weekend, I attended the Tomorrow's Leaders Summit (TLS) at the Borneo Convention Centre, Kuching (BCCK). Event for the youth here in Sarawak. I missed the 2nd day morning keynote session due to a Gathering with the Prime Minister at Old DUN Complex.

The summit started with the Welcoming Gala Dinner on friday which also attended by the dignitaries. During the dinner, Chief Minister said the challenge facing young people in Sarawak today was to move fast to gain qualifications and skills so that the state's development needs could be me in 20 years' time.

Besides qualifications, he said youths should also cultivate soft skills such as networking and inter-personal communication to be able to make the most of the opportunities comping their way.

Earlier, organising chairman Nordin Abdullah said the summit was themed 'Developing High-Income Youth' in line with Malaysia's goal to become a high-income nation.

The pattern of youth today is different from the olden days. The future of tomorrow's youth depends on the current generation. The development of the internet and fast-paced growth of information technology have increased the flow of information. Thus, it becomes a challenge for this group to filter out negative information. TLS went on with workshops and breakout session. Nanotechnology, animation, filmaking, tv journalism, youth leadership, entrepenuer, fashion and etc..

Quoting John F Kennedy's famous words, "Ask not what the country can do for you, but what you can do for the country....". Thanks to Sarawak Bloggers founder and coordinator, Cyril Dason for the FREE and EXCLUSIVE passes. Not forgetting to my fellow bloggers friends, Norman Goh, Willie, Wan Hashim and the others. Nice to meet you all..
